About Sarah

Hi! I'm Sarah Uchytil and I created Sarah U Coach because I believe in coaching.
I’ve worked in corporate America for the past 14 years in accounting, financial analysis and business consulting and I’ve experienced firsthand the need for coaching to improve our daily lives. Four years ago, I hired a coach to help me achieve a better work/life balance. I was working 60-70 hours a week as a business consultant and I felt like I was a hamster on a wheel, running and running but staying in the same place.

Through coaching, I learned how to remove the energy drains from my life and focus on what I really want. I also learned how to say NO to people, activities and situations which did not serve my highest good. During this process, I received a new career opportunity and amazing work/life balance along with a 30% pay increase. Even though I experienced wonderful results in my life, I still saw many of my friends and co-workers like that hamster on a wheel.

In 2009, I enrolled in Coach University, a leading global provider of coach training programs. In June 2010, I received my Core Essentials Certification and in 2011 I received my Associate Certified Coach (ACC) through the International Coaching Federation (ICF).

Continual Learning is cornerstone in my personal foundation. I grew up in Urbandale, Iowa (a suburb of Des Moines) the second oldest of five daughters to my parents, both teachers. Education has always been part of my family and my life. I view coaching as an advanced form of teaching.

I received my Bachelor of Science in Accounting from Iowa State University. Go Cyclones! I was featured in the Fall 2010 issue of Prospectus, the Iowa State University College of Business Alumni magazine, http://www.business.iastate.edu/prospectus.  See my story on page 12.  During my time at Iowa State, I truly learned the meaning of giving back through my volunteer commitments in my sorority, Alpha Phi. Upon graduation from Iowa State, I lived in Chicago for a few years and have now settled in Kansas City. During my time here, I’ve enhanced my community involvement through the Junior League of Kansas City.

With my desire for continual learning and my passion  to help others, I was naturally drawn to be a coach. I love it! Celebrating success with my clients is one of my greatest joys. Hearing a client create a shift to an “Ah-Ha” moment is amazing.
